College Swimming Helps

We've put together some suggestions and guidance for those interested in pursuing the opportunity to swim at the collegiate level.

1.  Go to college athletic websites and fill out recruiting questionnaires.  This lets the college coaches know that you are interested in college swimming.  After several weeks, send the coach an email directly with a specific question or two about the program.

2.  When a coach contacts you, don't close doors.  Sometimes you don't know that you're interested in a school until you go on a visit/see the campus/meet the coaches.  If a coach reaches out to you, there's a reason for it, and worth checking into.

3.  Use the questions linked here when you go on a visit.  Print them out, and carry a folder with you.  It looks impressive/organized to the prospective coaches, and then you have plenty of good questions to ask a coach when you go on a visit.  Prepare ahead of time which questions are most important to you to ask... so you don't just run down a whole list of them....

4.  Remember that you're interviewing them as much as they're interviewing you... you will need to work at this as well.  If you're looking for a new job, you need to work at finding one... the same goes for this.
