Meet Results: Muskegon and Byron Center

Despite the fact that we lost, we had a good meet overall.  Carly Johnson's gritty finish in the 200 IM set the tone for us, which was seen in many other close finishes, such as the 200 Freestyle Relay.  Overall, we displayed more determination and agression as a team than we have in any meet this season, which is nice to see at this point in the year.  We also continue to do an excellent job of encouraging our teammates and staying positive throughout the meet.  Some highlight season-bests include Carly Johnson in the 200 IM; Sophiya Stob in the 200 Freestyle; Anne Havenga, Molly Bruns, and Jade Demeester in the 50 Freestyle; Brianna Genzink in Diving; Caylin Hirdes and Ange Rosendahl in the 100 Fly; Bria VanKampena and Anne Havenga in the 100 Freestyle; Kaylie Wierda and Carly Johnson in the 100 Backstroke; and Kelsey Weener in the 100 Breaststroke.

In other news, our Athletic Director, Dave Engbers, highlighted our team's involvement with Compassionate Heart Ministries in the Maroon Athletics blog this past week after attending our meet on Tuesday.  What great recognition, as well as a good reminder that this experience does not simply revolve around what we do in the water.
