Life marches on and so does our season. Don't forget to take time to evaluate; and measure how you've been gifted and how you can use those gifts. The theme for this team comes form Romans 8:37 "More than Conquerors." I've replaced the word conquerors with the word champion for our purpose, but throughout life that word can be replaced with something else. We are more than swimmers, more than divers, more than students, teachers, parents, child... Our identity is found in Christ. Though I love competing and seeing my athletes compete to their ultimate best, I always want to make sure that this theme resonates through it all. Think about it this weekend.
Well this was a busy week. With exams, a meet, and practices, the team was a bit stressed. The boys have been working hard, so a Saturday out of the water was a welcomed break.
I was so impressed with how our boys swam on Tuesday. We swam guys in a lot of different events. This can be a tough transition for some athletes, but is needed for me to see where I can move people when needed. These boys really rose to the challenge.
The next few weeks, they will have to rise to some different challenges with meets each Tuesday and Thursday for up until early February. This means that practice time that we would normally have on those days is spent in competition. Not tht competition is bad, but to build toward our end goal of conference and State, practice intensity is needed.
For that reason, I am going to have the guys get in the water just a little earlier than a usual warmup on Thursday prior to our EGR meet. More details below.
Here are splits from Tuesday's meet.
Here are current top times (No Relay Splits included)
THE WEEK AHEAD
Monday's Practice for swimmers is 8-11. Welcome back!
Swimmers please get change in the locker room like our normal day but then take clothes, etc. so we don't disturb the youngins' during instructions in that pool and locker room.
Tuesday's meet is"away" against Holland. Athletes need to be on the deck by 5:20. We will dress up at school for this meet.
Thursday's meet is home against East Grand Rapids. Swimmers will be in the water at 5:00 (on deck at 4:50) instead of 5:30 for a little practice before the meet. Divers report on deck at the normal 5:20.
Hair Bleaching – Saturday, January 25
As we get closer to the end of the season, hair has become very chlorine damaged and is ready to be cut short for the championship meets. In the mean time, we have some fun with it. It is a year end team bonding tradition. This is never required but is more fun when most or all of the team participates.
We will be doing this in the locker rooms following the team breakfast on that Saturday. Figure $7-$10 for the people doing the bleaching and few bucks for pizza.

I know some of the parents have communicated about who is helping. Can you fill me in please on we have and what we need. Thanks.
Looking Down the Lane
Conference Meet is just under 4 weeks away (Feb. 21 & 22). Amazing! We have lots to do between now and then. Lots of things yet to accomplish. There will be lots of demands for time and assistance as we host the conference meet this year. so watch for emails from me or Coach Herrman in that regard.
