The Week Ahead: 8.25 to 8.29

Never give up on something you really want.
It's difficult to wait, but more difficult to regret.
Dr. Andy Baldwin

Before we get into details for the week, a huge THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to make our Team Retreat a success!  Specifically, the Boes' did a great job of hosting and those providing boats (Mike Boes, Jim Ellens, Mike Norman, and Kevin Hirdes) for Saturday afternoon allowed us to have a lot of fun out on the water.  Many more of you donated food, tents, etc... Thanks!  Beyond just having a good time in community as a team, we did some goal setting, for both team goals and individual goals.  The girls will be getting copies of both goal sheets this week, so it might be a fun opportunity for parents to see what we're shooting for this year!

Well, the school year is officially upon us starting tomorrow!  That also means we get to swim in our first dual meet of the season, which I certainly am looking forward to.  It'll be nice to know from a racing standpoint where we're actually starting from.  Remember, we go into Tuesday with relatively few expectations.  That meets provides our first stepping stone, and we journey from there.

Tuesday 8.26
  • Meet HOME vs. Ludington
    • We will be wearing our Warm Up Jackets to school.
    • Athletes need to be on deck for devotions by 5:15pm.
    • Warm Up @ 5:30pm...Meet Starts @ 6:30pm.
Thursday 8.28
  • Football Clean Up
    • This is the first of two nights that we will be cleaning up the stadium after a home football game.  For each clean up, we receive a significant amount of money from the school to put in our team fund, so this provides an easy fundraiser for us.
    • The more volunteers we have, the faster it goes!  Gloves will be provided.
    • If your family has a leaf blower, please bring it!  That makes it much easier to clean up the bleachers.
Friday 8.29
  • No school...
  • Swim practice goes from 8:00 to 10:30am.
Monday 9.1
  • No school...
  • As we have a meet on Tuesday, we have an optional (highly encouraged!) practice down in Hamilton with the Lady Hawkeyes from 6:30 to 8:30pm.
  • A group of us will meet at the Aquatic Center at 5:50pm to carpool down.  If you're going to show up for the carpool, please let me know so I know who to expect!
