OUR STATE TEAM IS SET!
Despite an abrupt end for some, the competition went on this week. We have had two great days of competition this week. One for swimmers, and one for divers.
2nd Shave Meet
Tuesday most of the team competed in 2nd Shave Meet. I am so glad we added this to our schedule. We had some awesome swims. Some highlights include Matthew Asselin in the 200 and 500 with 13 and 24 second drops. Curtis dropping nice time in the 100 fly and Ross dropping more time in the 500. Both had near misses for State cuts. An out of nowhere 100 breaststroke for Brandon. And so many other nice swims with nice drops by Logan DeLeeuw, Jake Smith, Zach Goodyke, and Riley Hoeksema. These are great things to see after the big drops we had at the Conference meet, and give me a great idea for where this team can go next season (Yes, I'm already looking there).
The two biggest swims, at least for there impact on this season's state meet and as major goals) were by Peter who got a state cut in the 50 (23.15) and Bryce who dropped an amazing 1.89 seconds in his 100 Breaststroke for a D3 state cut for them.

THE WEEK AHEAD

Diving Regionals
BG and Brad both competed at the D3 Diving Regionals at East Grand Rapids on Thursday night. To qualify for the state meet, divers must finish in the top 12 at their regional meet. Brad and BG both did excellent jobs on the board. Brad was successful in his state bid finishing in 10th place. Unfortunately BG came up about 7 points short finishing 13th in a solid performance.
THE WEEK AHEAD
Today/Friday - Practice 3:30-5:30. Though the boys don't have school, I have a professional development day so need to be there like a normal day.
Saturday - Normal Saturday practice 8:00 - 10:00
Monday thru Wednesday - Normal Practice 3:30-5:30ish. Though we put in less yards, we add time on the blocks, etc..
Thursday - Practice from 2:15 - 3:15
- Hit the road around 3:45 on Thursday.
Friday & Saturday - State Championships at Oakland University.
- I will be emailing an Itinerary for the weekend to parents and swimmers by this Saturday evening.
