The Week Ahead: 8.24 to 8.29

Champions don't become champions when they win the event,
but in the hours, weeks, and months they spend preparing.
Michael Jordan

First of all, a HUGE THANKS to everyone who helped out to make our retreat this past a success!  From the DeBoer Family and their friends for providing the location, to Lori Slenk who helped out with meals and took pictures, and to Kevin Hirdes who braved slightly choppy water so the girls could play on some tubes. And, to everyone who provided tents, food, etc. Thank you!  As always it was a great opportunity for our girls to simply hang out together, laugh with each other, and just BE as a family. We did some goal-setting both as a whole team and as individuals, and each class chose a quote to represent them. It might be fun for parents to ask there girls about the goals they set and the quotes they discussed!

Now, we're embarking on our first week of school! This week also brings our first opportunity to swim in a dual meet. Diane, Lisa, and I are certainly excited to see the girls competing for the first time, and I know the girls are excited as well. However, the thing to keep in mind is that this meet simply provides a starting point. We go in with few expectations and our goal is simply to figure out the base we're starting from this year. This is the first stepping stone in our journey this season...

Monday 8.24
  • Check-In Day at the High School!
  • This goes from 11:30am to 5:00pm.
  • Make sure you get there as early as possible!  Lines for pictures, laptops, etc. tend to get backed-up.  Be sure to give yourself plenty of time so you can get to practice on-time.
Tuesday 8.25
  • Meet AWAY @ Ludington
    • Bus leaves at 3:00pm from the HIGH SCHOOL. Make sure you take anything you need from the pool after Monday's practice.
    • We dress up for away meets! This means no jeans.
    • Warm Up @ 5:00pm. Meet Starts @ 6:00pm.
Saturday
  • Our First Saturday Practice! This is for both swimmers AND divers!
  • TIME CHANGE! In the water from 9:00 to 11:00am.
  • Breakfast to follow, so give yourself more time afterwards for the meal.
  • If you'd like to volunteer to provide a Saturday breakfast, please let me know.  I usually provide a simple meal of pancakes, milk, and OJ.  There may even be a Sign Up Genius going out for this...stay tuned!
