As we head into Week 13, we are getting close to the end of the season and the most important meets. This is the time to stay focused, keep improving, and continue building on all the hard work we’ve put in.
Week 12 was a great and special week for our team as we celebrated Senior Night against Holland. We came away with a win, and it was great to see the team compete well. We had several personal best times and even added another state cut, which is a huge accomplishment.
I was very proud of the effort, energy, and support everyone showed throughout the meet. It was a great way to recognize our seniors and continue building momentum as we move forward in the season.

Ready for Taper?
During the next week, swimmers (Those not qualified for state) begin the taper portion of the season. Taper is that time of the year when workouts change. Yardage decreases while intensity and speed increase, with the intent of preparing and "resting" the body for the championship portion of the season. If you want a little more detail on taper, here is a helpful article that explains it well.Swimmers who choose to use tights, I suggest tights that are nylon and footless (hemmed at the ankle), NOT leggings like you might for outdoor running, and NOT heavy "winter" tights. Tights are used to enhance drag during taper, but heavy winter tights provide too much drag. The footless tights don't unravel during the two weeks or so of swimming with them on.
