Ludington Meet Results

What an opener! We won 104-77, getting first place in each event. We also had six state-qualifying times: all three relays, Michelle in the 100 Freestyle, Kelsey in the 50 Freestyle, and Kaylie in the 100 Backstroke. Michelle's 100 Freestyle and the 400 Freestyle Relay of Asselin, Weener, Jager, and Wierda broke the pool records in their respective events. In addition, there were even a few people who had lifetime bests (such as Molly and Anne in the 100 Freestyle), which is a rarity for the first meet of the season. Most importantly, our team spirit was AWESOME throughout the meet! If we can keep that up throughout the season, which I have no doubt we will, we're going to be in a special place come Conference and State in November.

In the results listed above, there's a column off to the far right for improvements, which calculates where a given time from tonight's meet is in comparison to the athlete's best time in the event. A negative time means that they got faster, while a positive time indicates that a little time was added (it's the exact opposite for the diving scores). Keep in mind that the times referenced against tonight's times were from the end of the season last year, when you were fully tapered for either Conference or State. For all future meets, the time improvements will only reference other meets from this season.

Remember, tonight was all about figuring out where we're at to begin our season, right now. You should each be satisfied with your times from tonight! Tomorrow, we go back to work and build upon tonight's results. Also, remember that we need to be ingraining good habits into our swimming now, so that in a few weeks those tight streamlines and good breathing patterns will simply be automatic. Those little things will pay huge dividends later on...
