- The time for our practice this Saturday has been bumped back up to 7:15am due to an invitational that the Holland High girls' team is hosting. So, the doors will open at 7:15am. We will be in the water by 7:30 and out at 9:30, followed by pancakes.
- Our "Pomegranate" (some form of pink?) sweatshirts will be in tomorrow!
- The Hot Pink sweatshirts that got sent back (because they were the wrong color) will be available for $23.
- New state rankings came out today. We went from being unlisted at the beginning of the season to #9 in Division 3! This is a testament to the hard work and dedication EVERYONE has put in to our team thus far, both in and out of the water. We still have a long ways to go, but we're on the right path. You can view the rankings on the MISCA Website.
Meet Results
Thanks to those of you who came out to support us at West Ottawa tonight! It was a good chance for us to swim some tough competition (West Ottawa) as well as a team that Holland Christian has never faced before in Portage Central. We didn't come out with a win in either meet (it was scored as separate dual meets against each team) but had plenty of positive swims. Congratulations to freshman Sydney Asselin, who got her first-ever high school State Cut in the 200 Freestyle, and followed up that performance by also getting a State Cut in the 500 Free (by 5 seconds no less!). Among other swimmers with significant time-drops were: Molly Bruns and Anne Havenga in the 200 Free (7 and 6 seconds!); Ange Rosendahl in the 200 IM; Molly, Anne, Kelsey Weener, and Caylin Hirdes in the 100 Freestyle; Hope Webbert and Tori Moralez in the 50 Freestyle; Hannah Breuker in the 500 Freestyle (6.99 seconds); Sara Plambeck in the 200 IM (6.23) and 100 Breaststroke; and Hope Webbert and Jade DeMeester in the 100 Backstroke. However, the queen of time-drops certainly goes to Bria VanKampen, who dropped 19.07 seconds in her 100 Backstroke. Plus, there were many others! Also, Olivia Meiste had a season-high score of 170.60 to get second in diving.
Overall, I felt that we displayed more toughness than we have in past meets, which was good to see.
