The Week Ahead: 8.19 to 8.24

***Update: All practices are now at the Aquatic Center.  I just updated the Calendar.

You are the only person on earth who can use your ability.

Failure is simply a few errors in judgement, repeated every day.

Speaking of quotes, each athlete has been asked to bring a quote/verse/etc. with them to the retreat.  Each class will go through their contributions and pick one of them to memorize as a class, kind of a class mantra.  Parents, it could be fun to ask your daughter what they're considering or what they've come up with!

Here's the important info for this week...

Senior Camp

•  HCHS' Senior Camp is this Sunday and Monday up at Timberwolf Lodge.  I, along with many of the high school faculty, will be there so I will not be at practice on Monday.  Todd Smeenge, head coach for the boys' swim team, will run our practice at 3:00pm.

Athletics' Parent Night

• HC Athletics' Parent Night is Tuesday (8.20) at 7:00pm.  It will start in the auditorium with a guest speaker and at 7:30ish we will break out into meetings for individual sports.
• Each family will receive a packet with info from our picture forms, to our Team Handbook, and lots of pertinent information will be gone over.  Please try to have someone from your family in attendance!

Pay-to-Play

•  Pay-to-play for this year will be $85.
• You will receive an envelope at the Parent Meeting, so if you bring a cash or check that night you can just turn it right back in!

Team Pictures

• Our team pictures will be at 5:15 on Thursday (8.22).
• The swimmers will get out of the water with plenty of time to dry their hair, get changed, etc.
• Please wear nice jeans!  Warm up tops will be handed out that night.

Team Retreat

•  Our Team Retreat is this Friday and Satuday (8.23-24) at the Alexander's down in Fennville.
• We will carpool down there after practice on Friday, so you can bring your bags, chairs, etc. to the pool with you.
• Pick up will be at 5:00pm at the high school on Saturday.
• Please see Shellie Alexander's email from this past week for more detailed information!

We're truly off to a great start in the pool!  I'm excited to see where this season will take us as a Team.

Enjoy your weekend!
