State Wrap-Up

What a weekend we had at Oakland University for the Division 3 State Meet!  On Friday, we put together hands-down the best Prelims we've had in the past four years, moving us up from our seeds in many swims and setting us up for our Third Place finish on Saturday.  We ABSOLUTELY maxed-out our potential place-wise, doing so on the backs of a lot of stand-out swims, including two new varsity records.  What a way to end our family's 2014 journey!

Also, I posted a quote on Facebook earlier this week from one of my favorite coaches, John Wooden.  It states: "The main ingredient of stardom is the rest of the team."  That Third Place trophy is representative of our WHOLE family of 25 girls.  Without each one of you, those 10 that swam at State wouldn't be the same.  EVERYONE played a part in our State Results!

Here's a run-down of our swims and places:
  • 200 Medley Relay: 
    • Em-Er-Val-Nader finished 4th with a 1:51.25.
    • Their prelim swim of 1:51.18 crushed our varsity record for that event by over a second!
  • 200 Freestyle
    • Syd finished 2nd with a 1:54.37.
    • Emma finished 11th with a 1:59.66.
  • 200 IM
    • Anna finished 12th with a 2:17.50.  She went a lifetime best of 2:16.87 in prelims.
    • Em finished 13th with a 2:17.64.  She went a lifetime best of 2:17.08 in prelims.
    • Taylor finished 22nd with a new lifetime best of 2:21.93.
  • 50 Freestyle
    • Val finished 29th with a 26.20.
  • 100 Fly
    • Nader finished 16th with a 1:02.75.  She went a lifetime best of 1:01.57 in prelims.
    • Val finished 35th with a 1:04.98.
  • 500 Free
    • Syd finished 5th with a 5:15.99.  She went a season-best 5:10.79 in prelims.
    • Emma finished 8th with a 5:26.01.  She went a lifetime best 5:23.48 in prelims.
    • Robyn finished 19th with a lifetime best of 5:33.30.
  • 200 Free Relay
    • Er-Val-Emma-Syd placed 4th with a 1:41.39.
  • 100 Back
    • Em finished 6th with a 1:00.05.  Her prelim swim of 59.81 was her first-time ever under a minute.
    • Nader finished 9th with a lifetime best of 1:00.10.
    • Anna finished 30th with a new lifetime best of 1:04.79.
  • 100 Breast
    • Er finished 8th with a 1:10.16.  Her lifetime best swim of 1:09.37 broke our varsity record for that event!
    • Tay finished 16th with a 1:12.18.  Her prelim swim of 1:10.92 was lifetime best.
  • 400 Free Relay
    • Nader-Em-Emma-Syd finished 4th with a 3:41.16.
