Upcoming Meets and This Week's Notes: Jan. 19 - Jan. 24

THIS WEEK'S REFLECTION
Despite the loss on Tuesday, we continue to make significant gains. I was extremely happy with how we swam and look forward to the weeks to come.

Our under waters keep getting better, but we need to make them stronger.
Our turns continue to get better, but we still have some that are missing them during workouts and not working on timing and technique.

The intensity in our workouts will continue to ramp up as we approach early February. Hopefully we can be back to a full roster in the next few days as Ross continually improves. Though his water time will be limited at firs, I know he is ready to get back at it.

New Year Relays
I almost forgot about these this week. Fortunately, Brad reminded me midweek and we did have our belated annual New Years Relays on Saturday.  We had to have our first ever swim off to determine a champion.

In the end, The Slayers walked away with the championship. But the team of Garrett, Luke DL, Matthew, Grayson from Father Todd's Reformatory for Troubled Youth (FTRTY) set a new, though somewhat controversial, record in the eggnog relay. The impact of the single eggnog chugger and the subsequent loss of the substance will be discussed for years and decades to come.

THIS WEEK'S PRACTICE & MEET NOTES: Jan. 12 - Jan. 17

Monday, January 19 - Athletes have the day off from school so swimmers will have practice from 8-11. Divers will practice at their normal time.

Tuesday's meet is home against Holland. Boys should be on deck by 5:20.

Thursday's meet at East Grand Rapids.
  • As we do with all away meets, boys should be dressed up for the day and to and from the meet.
  • We will leave from the Aquatic Center at 4:15 and return around 9:00.
  • The meet at EGR starts at 6:00

Looking Ahead

DATE CHANGE
Hair Bleaching – Friday, January 30  6:00 pm  As we get closer to the end of the season, hair has become very chlorine damaged and is ready to be cut short for the championship meets. In the mean time, we have some fun with it.  It is a year end team bonding tradition.

This is never required but is more fun when most or all of the team participates.  I will have a parent release form to make sure that your son is doing this willingly.

We will be doing this in the locker rooms following the team breakfast on that Saturday. Figure $7-$10 for the people doing the bleaching to help cover supplies.
