The difference between one person and another, between the weak and the powerful,
the great and the insignificant, is energy–invisible determination...
This quality will do anything that has to be done in the world,
and no talents, no circumstances, no opportunities will make you a great person without it.
Thomas Bruxton–Philanthropist
A true competitor gets the most joy out of the most difficult circumstances.
The real competitors love a tough situation–
that is when they focus better and function better.

As we approach our Invitational this coming weekend, that comes with the realization that we are about halfway through our season already. We're four weeks into school, five-and-a-half weeks in to the season, and things have started to become routine and things can start to wear. We're now in shape, used to our daily and weekly cycle, and have been through a number of meets. Now is the point where we need to hone in on a few key questions, prompted by those quotes?
1) Do we really display that "energy", that "invisible determination" on a daily basis, whether in workouts or in meets?
2) Are we really savoring the "difficult" circumstances and using those are opportunities to better ourselves?
Each person needs to answer those questions on their own. If we can answer them with a resounding YES! then we're on the right path and need to keep pushing. If there's some doubt, the good thing is we still have plenty of time to turn those things around and set ourselves up for a great November. I'm excited to see how we can respond this week both against Grandville and at our D3 Invite.
Tuesday 9.19
- Meet HOME vs. Grandville
- Athletes on-deck for devotions by 5:15pm.
- Warm Up at 5:30pm. Meet Starts @ 6:30pm
Saturday 9.23
- Division 3 Invitational @ ZEELAND.
- Times
- Athletes on-deck @ 9:00am for Devotions.
- Warm Up @ 9:00am. Meet Start @ 11:00am.
- Estimated Finish @ 3:00pm (should be the absolute latest it would go).
- Format
- A 12-team Invitational with all Division 3 teams.
- Each team is limited to 3 entries per relay and 4 entries per individual event. As this is much more limited than a normal dual meet, I will do my best to get people at least 2+ swims while maintaining our fastest possible lineup.
- The meet is straight-seeded by time.
- The top 16 overall score in each event, regardless of heat. A and B relays can score.
- Awards will be handed out during the meet to the Top 3 for each relay and Top 8 for each individual event.
- Divers will complete an 11-dive meet that will run simultaneously with swimming.
