Week Ahead 1.15 to 1.20

What can I say after the last three days? Two wins, three new state cuts and more best times than I can count. I'm so impressed with this group of young men. With 8 weeks under our belts, we have officially passed the half way point of our season. With 6 weeks left before conference and 8 weeks to state, yesterday's meet was a great measuring stick of the group.

The last two meets had so many high points. Daniel Koning's 7 second drop in the 100 fly, Aidan Hollebeek's 5 seconds in the 100 free, and Miles Hilbelink's 20 second drop in the 200 to Hudson's two state cuts, Levi's huge 200 Free and 100 fly, and Ross' sub 5:00 in the 500 were all major highlights over the last two meets, but that doesn't do justice to all the accomplishments. I have so many spots on the goals sheet that I can't keep up with it. Our young swimmers continue to improve. Those swimmers who have been bumping against state cuts have achieved some of those goals, and our more experienced swimmers are achieving lifetime bests as well. All of these achievements are evidence of the hard work everyone is putting in and trusting the process.

HEALTH CONCERNS - A Reminder
COLDS & FLU - This time of year, unseasonably warm days sliding in and out of the normal cold winter days and a mix of rain and snow come and go. It is the kind of weather that helps bring in colds and flu that can wipe you out for 7-10 days if you're not careful. So I thought I would give a little reminder of good health habits.

Though the cold does not cause a cold, there is plenty of scientific evidence that exposure to the cold taxes your body's immune system. Add to that the work each athlete is doing in the pool and your body is just waiting for those cold and flu germs to take over
