Growth - Resilience - Intensity - Tenacity
This Team Is Built On It
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. ~ 1 Corinthians 15:58
HARD WORK
Remember, what you do EACH DAY in the water will determine how well or how poorly you finish the season. EVERYTHING we do is targeted to our final two meets of the year. TAPER BEGINS TODAY!!
You're off to a great start in this regard, but let's keep pushing ourselves.

Our GRIT theme has, of course, had a little funny additions to it thanks to a number of swimmers. I think "Ricky" was the first to connect grit to sandpaper. So, I decided to embrace the idea with the "Sandpaper Man "Gritty Performance of The Week (The Sandy). Though I will select this first one, I'm hoping to have athletes choose one or more in subsequent weeks. This week, I'm selecting Nathan Bengelink's performance at our West Ottawa meet.
OUR LAST MEET
OUR LAST MEET
We had a nice start on Tuesday vs. West Ottawa. Some great, eye opening by some of our Meet Splits - Click here for splits and results. These show comparisons to lifetime best times. Negative numbers in the right column indicates the amount of time that an athlete has improved in the swim (Diving is actually just the opposite). After our first couple meets, I will only make comparisons to season bests.

CHRISTMAS BREAK PRACTICES
The lights, and music aren't the only indicators of the season. The annual Christmas break practice load brings a different type of anticipation. In other sports, you may expect a little break from the work. In our sport however, the training ramps up a bit. These next three weeks are great times to take the great conditioning work you have been doing and build on it with more technique work and laser focused intensity. These three weeks are some of the most important training of the season. The Calendar is updated. The planned schedule for swimmers is as follows:Monday Dec 19th - Dryland @ HCMS 7-8 then to the HAC 8-10amTuesday Dec 20th - HAC 7-10amWednesday Dec 21st - HAC 8-10amThursday Dec 22nd - HAC 7-10amFriday Dec 23rd - Dryland @ HCMS 7-8 then to the HAC 8-10amSaturday Dec 24th - Building ClosedMonday Dec 26th - Dryland @ HCMS 7-8 then to the HAC 8-10amTuesday Dec 27th - Meet @ Jenison Divers Depart at 8am Swimmers Depart at 9:30Wednesday Dec 28th - HAC 7-10amThursday Dec 29th - Dryland @ HCMS 7-8 then to the HAC 8-10amFriday Dec 30th - HAC 8-10am (New Year's Relays?)Saturday Dec 31st - HAC Dryland 8-9am, Swim 9-11am
