Week 14 - What A Meet

We started the season talking about how taper begins at the first day of practice and you will get out of the season what you put into it. As much as I always imagine how that hard work and time will result in fantastic performances at the end of the season, I am always shocked and amazed at how that will materialize as we go through this championship season.

I am so proud of this group of guys and what they accomplished so far through this season. I reminded the boys this weekend that what they do in the water or on the board does not define them. They are defined by so much more. However, I also pointed out that they were born to use the gifts that God has given them to the best of their ability for His honor and glory. They did just that and what an awesome thing to be able to watch.

Though it is impossible to pick any performance as better than the rest, here are a few highlights.

• 3 brand new individual state cuts for Joseph Stielstra (50 Free), Brayden Rynsburger (100 Breast) and Jackson Busscher (100 Back). Congratulations boys.
• 1 added cut for Christian Huizenga in the 200 IM
• A Varsity Record for Parker Schut (489.85) and Freshman Record for Charlie DeHaan (424.35)  on the Board. 
• New Varsity Letter swims for Jacob VanDuinen (200 & 500), Charlie deVries (100 Free), Brighton Walcott (100 Breast),  and Nick Leegwater (50 & 100 Back).
• More personal bests (both seasonal and lifetime) than I want to count.

What's Happening this week

Second Chance Meet

Hosted by Holland - Tuesday, February 27 at 6:30

• This meet will be hosted at the Holland Aquatic Center by Holland High School. 
• Final Meet for those not making State cuts. 
• Final Chance for those trying to get state cuts or Letter Times.
• This is a great opportunity for athletes to swim events that they didn't get a chance to swim at the Conference meet. 

I need to know what events you want to swim by Sunday evening (Feb 25th).

Diving Regional Meet
AT Hamilton - Thursday, February 29

    - Warm up at 3:00 pm 

    - Competition begins at 5:00 pm
