THE UPS & THE DOWNS
Another amazing week. This one filled with the highs and lows that a season can bring. I often notice the parallels between what we do in sports, and life itself. As amazing as Tuesday was with a dominating win over a conference and state division foe the high was quickly followed by the disappointment of a one point loss to a long time rival. That is often an experience of life itself.
I talked with the boys about how a one point loss is a matter of lots of little details leading to a final result. There are things we can all work on to make sure that some of those small details are done more consistently in the future.
You can see the season improvements for both meets at the Results Page.
GRITTY AWARDS - We had some fantastic performances in both meets this week. I've chosen four award winners for the Spring Lake meet. Andrew Bengelink really earned his Gritty award over a two meet week. Two amazing drops in the 100 Free as well as a couple great relay legs that helped us in both meets. Gibson Marlink had an amazing 9,8 second drop in his 200 and an additional 3 second drop in the 100 Free. Josiah Wolters had a great swim in his 100 Fly dropping over 3 seconds and getting him under 1:09 for the first time.

At Zeeland, Zeke Zwiep had a fantastic meet with his first 100 Free swim under :56. Hudson Tinholt had a great swim in the 200 and an amazing split in the Sprint relay under stressful circumstances in which he scrambled from one relay to another and swam a great split. Jake Shoemaker gets a Gritty for gaining two wins in what was a hard fought meet against Zeeland. Jake stepped up to help the team with some tremendous swims. Basilio is our final recipient. Like Jake, Basilio got an individual victory and helped our Medley start the meet with a great win while swimming a bit under the weather. Great job by all.
