Week #8: 9/30-10/5

What a fun D3 Invitational meet this weekend! We're so proud of you girls and your hard work. You put everything out there and left it all in the pool! We are only halfway through our season, and I can't wait to see what's in store for the second half. This is just a preview of what's to come in November! We are not only proud of your swimming and diving but also how you worked as a TEAM. Your cheering and encouragement were noticed on deck. Thank you for your energy, positivity, and effort. Remember to keep your head up, continue to work hard in the pool, and enjoy the process. We're so proud of you girls! Also, thanks to all the parents who helped in so many ways! The meet ran smoothly because of all your help. We appreciate it!

Meet Highlights:

• There were 17 lifetime best times and 8 in-season best times. This is HUGE!!

• There were 29 in-season (and some even lifetime!) best relay splits.

• There were 2 lifetime best scores for divers and best in-season scores for all divers. Amazing job!

• Camryn Siegers broke the HC school record in the 200 IM with a time of 2:06.48 (previous record was 2:10.44 from 2016).

• The Holland Aquatic Center is hosting the 3rd Annual Be Better Invitational on Friday, October 4. This meet began two years ago at Calvin University in honor of former Holland Christian, University of Michigan, and Michigan Lakeshore swimmer, Ian Miskelley. This year, they have invited Purdue University to join Calvin University, Hope College, and the University of Michigan to come and swim in a charity meet to benefit the Be Better organization. Please click HERE to learn more about Be Better.

• We will be practicing in the water from 4:00-5:00pm on Friday. We will get out at 5:00pm and the girls will watch the last part of the meet as a team and/or will help time. We encourage the girls to sign up to time! Please click HERE to see the signup. Thanks for those of you who already have signed up! It is a great opportunity to watch some fast college swimming.

• We are requiring the girls to stay at the meet until our typical 6:00pm end of practice time. We want to show support to the Miskelley family, honor former HC swimmer Ian Miskelley, assist with timing and other volunteer needs, and ensure Holland Christian Aquatics is present at the meet. There will be swimmers and divers from the HC boys team there as well. It will be a fun afternoon!

• This meet is a great opportunity to see some fast swimming from some great schools in the NCAA D1 and D3. There will be a mix of "real" events and fun events going on all evening. The event is free of charge to attend! Parents, you are welcome to attend as well.

Saturday, 10/5: Pool 8:00-10:00 am
