Week #1: 8/11-8/15

The 2025 Swim and Dive season is officially a few days away! There's so much to look forward to, and I'm excited to see how we'll grow together as a team. I've been praying for each of you as we head into this new season. I can't wait to see the ways we'll challenge ourselves, support one another, and celebrate the big and small victories along the way. Let's go Maroons!

The blog will be updated weekly with details about the week ahead. You can check the schedule below to see reminders about the first week of practice. Please reach out with any questions you may have.

This Week:

Monday: HCHS 8:00-9:00am, Pool 9:00-10:00am

  • We are spending the first half of practice at the High School to meet with Sam Herzog, the owner of Grounded Sport and Performance Psychology. He will be meeting with our team four times throughout the season to discuss goal setting, mindset, and how to overcome setbacks so that we can perform at our highest level.
  • We are planning to meet by door E (by the weight room at the HS) at 7:50am. We will then carpool to the pool for practice from 9:00-10:00am.

Tuesday: Pool 3:00-5:00pm

Wednesday: ETS 9:00-9:45am, Pool 3:00-5:00pm

Thursday: Parka Pick-Up 2:30pm, Practice 3:00-5:00pm

  • We are going to do our parka pick-up at 2:30pm by the high school weight room (Door E) on Thursday. Parkas are worn at meets. Please make sure to come and pick one up because we will need it for pictures on Friday!

Friday: ETS 7:00-7:45am, Pool 8:00-10:00am

  • We are going to have our team pictures on Friday at the Holland Aquatic Center at 8:15am. Please make sure to bring your parka!

Retreat Information:

On Wednesday, August 13, we will be having our team retreat at the Slenks' House (1733 Garden View Dr. Zeeland, MI 49464). The girls will go straight to the retreat from the pool. Parents, if you are picking your daughter up, please plan to arrive around 8:30pm from the address above. If you volunteered to take food to the retreat, thank you! You can plan on sending it with your daughter or you can drop it off at the house anytime before the retreat. Please reach out to Erica if you would like to drop it off early. We look forward to a fun evening together!

ETS:

ETS is the strength and conditioning program for all athletes at Holland Christian. This takes place in the small gym/weight room at Holland Christian High School and is led by trainers. When coming for morning ETS practices, the best place to enter is through the doors located closest to the entrance to the football field. I have attached a picture below that might help as well. Enter on the map where it says Entrance E.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Parents, thank you so much for all that you do to help our season run so smoothly! We truly couldn't do it without you. Please take a look at the volunteer sign-up opportunities HERE. We appreciate your help!

Final Forms:

Please make sure that everything is completed and "green" in Final Forms! You will not be able to practice on the first day if you do not have a physical on file.

Parent Night:
Parents, we hope you can join for the Athletic Parent Night at HCHS on August 19 at 7:00pm. The evening will begin with keynote speaker Austin Hatch, followed by a separate Swim and Dive parent meeting.
